SHERIFF TOM KNIGHT ENDORSES GREGORY FOR FLORIDA HOUSE

Today, the Tommy Gregory Campaign announced the endorsement of Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight. He is the latest of a growing number of legislative and law enforcement leaders throwing their support behind Gregory’s bid for the District 73 seat in the Florida House, currently held by Joe Gruters, who is running for the Florida Senate.

“Tommy Gregory is the leader we need in Tallahassee,” said Knight. “Tommy’s military background and 14 years of experience as a prosecutor combined with his rock-solid conservative values will make him an effective voice for law enforcement as well as our entire community in the Florida House.”

Knight has served as Sarasota County Sheriff since 2009. Prior to that, he had a 20-year career with the Florida Highway Patrol, where, as Troop Commander, he managed a seven-county region with more than 300 employees and a $20 million budget. He has lived in Florida since 1973 and is a graduate of Florida State University.

“I’m proud to have the support of an outstanding public servant like Sheriff Knight,” said Gregory. “Public safety is critical to our high quality of life, and the hard work he and his office invest in protecting our community is invaluable. I look forward to working with him to make sure law enforcement is a high priority in the Legislature.”
